Manelderly carrier A1 Technologies secured an assignment with sportswear store JD Sports to design and implement a WAN Fortinet SD solution with the help of Exclusive Networks.

The MULTIchannel store founded in the UK opened its first physical outlets in Australia in early 2017 and expanded to twenty-five outlets in July this year.

All this expansion has been accompanied by increased WAN connectivity and costs.

JD Sports Fashion Chief Financial Officer Mark Woodhouse said he worked with his supplier beyond for several years, so there is familiarity and history, and still manages an old WAN environment, which is solid but very expensive.

“We knew there had been advancements in the SD WAN space and wanted to explore them. Internet and connectivity appeared to be getting cheaper but our cost per site seemed to be ever increasing,” Woodhouse said.

In addition to WAN’s rising costs to service its new stores, JD faced guest service in difficult conditions due to the agile and fast nature of its operations. Sites fell rapidly, centers were disconnected with limited warning and communication reaction times arrived late.

The new SD WAN allocation began a year ago, with A1 conducting a thorough review of JD operations, adding current technologies, business processes, and store requirements. First, A1 began committing to JD Sports as a component of a Microcushy 36five migration assignment, which is still ongoing.

Based on this review, A1, in collaboration with the exclusive Netpaintingss team, able to design and implement a Fortinet SD WAN solution that referred to the dismantling of the old and expensive MPLS netpaintings and scoring the hosted firewall in-doleading for the greatest flexibility and visibility.

The allocation also concerned the transition of the estimated 10MB and 20MB fibre optic centres to NBN 100/40 in retail and fiber optic outlets in key locations such as the main workplace and warehouse; and the launch of the IPsec FortiGate SD-WAN move connectivity and redundancy.

As a result, JD Sports is able to achieve 40% relief in its annual WAN costs while expanding network visibility, flexibility, and scalability.

“When we looked at the numbers, we were able to save over $100,000 a year in data costs moving to an NBN/SD WAN solution,” Woodhouse said.

“We focus on implementing responses that place a tangible burden on our customers, the result being the number one priority. The A1 team and Exclusive Networks did a wonderful job of designing a solution that advanced JD’s capture and technical operations while reducing loads,” added Rob Rattray, sales manager at A1 Technologies.

On the operational front, JD saw the benefits of A1 Technologies’ more non-public and responsive service, less in IT control and more in its business.

“At all times it is advisable to see partners who use the internal ratings we provide as a value-added distributor. By integrating Fortinet’s A1 team into the Exclusive Networks pre-sales team, we were able to cover every nuance imaginable and make Jonathan Odria, General Manager of Exclusive Networks, said that Fortinet’s maximum secure SD SDAN capability is the first economical and secure WAN SD solution, ideal for the customer.
