The city of Da Lat “has what it takes” for an urban heritage site in the central province of the Lam Dong Highlands, experts said.

Da Lat, known for its favorable climate, is known as ‘forest in the village and village in the forest’, ‘fog village’ or ‘flower village’, according to the newspaper Thanh Nian (Youth).

Da Lat owns public villas and architectural works through Asian and European cultures, said Le Quang Trung, director of the structure branch of Lam Dong Province.

The taste of architecture goes hand in hand with nature, with different tourist sites than those discovered in other cities, he added.

The vice-chairman of Da Lat’s People’s Committee, Vo Ngoc Trinh, said that without the pine forest, intelligent climate, prominent architecture and warm inhabitants, Da Lat would have gained so much love.

Local government over the years has focused on the city’s progression while preserving its cultural heritage, he said.

Trung noted that the Cultural Heritage Act 2001 defines only the cultural heritage of curtains and intangible cultural heritage, however, the concept of urban heritage has not yet been clarified.

However, to maintain and announce the price of heritage from a fashionable urban perspective, it is essential to have an express policy when creating a heritage like Da Lat.

Three points want to be taken into account and preserved, adding climate and herbal landscapes, existing architectural works, culture and people, Trung said.

According to the architect Tran Van Viet, the concept of urban heritage is not new, but it is difficult to follow, since Vietnam does not yet have an urban heritage.

“The maps from the time of Dr. Yersin (founder of Da Lat) and the urban plans of the French colonial era will have to be compiled to compile an in-depth proposal on Da Lat before presenting it to the state for the popularity of a cultural heritage fund,” Viet told me.

It is also conducting studies and evaluating the price of existing architectural works in the region, among other tasks, he added. Vns
