Icelandic biotechnology company ORF Genetics has obtained a grant of EUR 2.5 million from the European Commission’s grant control services, Morgunblasei reports. More than 2,000 corporations implemented for the grant, which awarded less than 3 consistent with one percent of applicants.
According to a press release from the European Commission, the subsidy is intended for the research, progression and marketing of animal expansion points to produce cell-grown meat, called “clean meat” or “laboratory meat”. The product will be announced with the logo called MESOkine, a sub-logo of ORF Genetics.
Targeting a new market for mobile growing meat, ORF Genetics will expand and produce a portfolio of animal expansion points. Growth points are proteins that regenerate and differentiate all mobiles in humans and animals, and are essential for many health-related products.
ORF Genetics is the first company in the world to produce a portfolio of human expansion points in plants. The production site is a high-tech ecological greenhouse in Iceland that uses green geothermal energy.
“About two hundred million animals are slaughtered internationally every day for food production, yet no animals are slaughtered for meat production in mobile culture,” says Liv Berg-rsd-ttir, CEO of ORF Genetics. “This is a revolutionary strategy that will definitely replace global food production and has been described as the next primary food generation trend.”
“Receiving this grant is an honor,” he told Morgunblasei.
