Trump suspends advertising spending

Trump’s crusade temporarily suspended spending on television advertising while undergoing a “review and refinement of the crusade strategy,” according to a Trump crusade official. Re-evaluation under new crusade manager Bill Stepien doesn’t make virtual advertising any bigger.

Trump’s crusade has spent more than $84 million on television commercials alone since the coronavirus pandemic began in mid-March, adding $17.6 million on political battlefields in Florida and $10.4 million in Pennsylvania.

Two weeks ago, Trump promoted Stepien to the highest workplace of the crusade, replacing Brad Parscale. After being transferred from political director to deputy crusade manager in late May, Stepien began a review of the infrastructure and expenses of the operation. NBC News first reported the breakup of the television ad.

So far, there is little indication of a replacement in the strategy. A new virtual ad released on Friday falsely claims that opponent Joe Biden supports the download of police. Biden said he supports redirecting some police resources to treat intellectual fitness or replacing the system, but told CBS News that he opposed the removal of the police.

The ad also uses photographs of protests under President Trump’s leadership to argue that a Biden administration would not be American.

However, the suspension of television ads is coming to an end. Trump announced via a tweet: “We’re doing a new advertising crusade at Sleepy Joe Biden to be released Monday.”

One crusade official told CBS News: “After reviewing the crusade’s advertising strategy, we are resuming our systems by focusing on states that are starting to vote early. The 2020 calendar is another of years gone by and there are many states where most votes will make it cast before polling day. This is a smarter strategy.”
