KYIV, 31 Jul (Reuters) – Ukraine is in a position to take the matter to foreign courts if its negotiations with Iran on the downing of a Boeing 737 of Ukraine International Airlines fail, Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba said Friday.

The first circular of talks between Ukraine and Iran about the payment took place Thursday in Kiev and was constructive, Said Kuleba, but said it was too early to say what payment Tehran would agree to pay.

Iranian forces said they shot down after taking it as a missile at a time when tensions with the United States had increased.

The 176 people on board, totaling 57 Canadians, were killed. (Reporting through Pavel Polityuk; edited through Jason Neely)
