Sun Basket kept my refrigerator full of healthy food during quarantine

Like many, in January, I sat obediently and wrote a small but ingenious list of New Year 2020 goals in my daily vignette. One of those goals was to be more artistic in the kitchen by leaving my area of convenience and experimenting with new cuisines and unknown ingredients. The qualitative solution was to review at least 3 new recipes each month, and I think one of the most productive tactics to launch this initiative was to enroll in a meal delivery program.

Now, over the years, I’ve tried some of those services. Some were correct, some were not very smart and others were decent. However, as a fishery who prefers biological ingredients from sustainable sources, Sun Basket seemed promising. Six months later and I can tell you that the San Francisco-based company has not only been able to meet my needs consistently, but also to exceed them.

Enter: Pandemic 2020.

When I signed up in early 2020, I didn’t know how important it would be to send healthy foods to my door every week. But let me tell you: Sun Basket has been a blessing in our space with more tactics than I could have imagined.

Yes, the weekly deliveries kept me on track with my new year’s solution, and more importantly, they kept my refrigerator full of healthy and biological foods, the COVID-19 pandemic.

It’s a kind of well-kept secret, but Sun Basket offers more than just pre-set meals. They also have a physically powerful biological “grocery store” that allows subscribers to upload pieces to the menu to their weekly meal plan. These pieces come with cuts of meat and fish, products, coffee, fruit juices, microwave meals, breakfast pieces and snacks. I’ve probably taken advantage of this feature over the last few months. (Personally I am obsessed with pressed fruit juices, scallops, egg bites and hummus).

The peace of mind of knowing that I didn’t want to stop by the grocery store, although my anxiety about leaving home was incredibly high, it was priceless for me. Also, not having to go through the difficult procedure of making sure I have all the mandatory ingredients available for food was also a lifeline (I’m not sure my pandemic brain can handle that …), and it’s comforting to know that foods like that are also smart for me. Another credit with Sun Basket is that, compared to other food delivery services, I discovered that its recipes are a little more complicated and that the result is a greater taste of food and greater non-public satisfaction.

Beyond all of the above, the ability to enter the kitchen with delicious food throughout the week was a real intellectual escape from madness. The nights spent in the kitchen, podcasts or music games in the kitchen have been therapeutic, but now they are even more valuable. And yes, it feels smart to know that I’m on my way to leaving the purpose of my New Year’s “culinary creativity” out of the park.
