Located in the Mekong Delta, Vietnam, the café modano via AD studio, reflects the seasonal lifestyle and trends of the population through its unique spatial architecture. This regional typology, characterized by an undeniable structure, with a soft ceiling formula covering the transitional framework then was used, especially before urbanization, due to its harmonious resonance with the herbal environment.

At the request of designing a “temporary” coffee on a short-term rental site, the AD study chose this typology, representing it through the corrugated ceiling that rises above the sensitive metal frame. The absolutely open space, the desert use of the partitions, as well as the contrast through the heavy ceiling and the soft frame, highlight the structure as a total “drift”.
The steps of the floor are exchanged with water and plants, generating a domain of several other layers. The difference in intensity between the dark domain of the ceiling and the transparent domain that surrounds it provides greater intensity to the atmosphere. The design of the coffee included the removal of all components, to make the most of the corner terrain. The opening of the construction is cozy from all directions, and the sidewalk component acts as a catalyst for greater interaction.
The family symbol of a classic thatched-roofed space has been infused into this other form of construction, attracting attention from afar and revealing lively activities. As a guest approaches, he or she may feel visually stimulating signals fade and transmit joy to other senses.
