In the midst of a devastating pandemic and a methic economic crisis, the White House has a pressing question for its fellow management: Are you unwavering enough with President Donald Trump? The White House Office of Presidential Staff conducts one-on-one interviews with fitness officials and many other policy-appointed Americans in federal agencies, an exercise that some of the subjects have called “unwavering evidence” to threats of flight and other potentially subversive acts. just a few months before the presidential election, according to interviews with 15 existing and former administrative officials.
According to Politico reports, officials confirmed by the Senate of the cabinet agencies (Health and Social Services, Defense, Treasury, Labor and Commerce) are being questioned through the White House staff office.
An informed source of the conversations described them as “an exercise in locating others perceived as inadequate by Trump.”
The use of the word “enough” was interesting. This suggests that for the White House, it is not enough for Trump’s management officials for the president and his priorities; Officials will be evaluated to see if they are effusive enough to meet the White House’s arbitrary criteria.
“It looks like you could be a rocket specialist, but all they care about is if you’re MAGA,” a senior official familiar with the process said. “It is right to do anything to prepare for a period of time, but at this time it is difficult to know what the smart fortune parameters of this workplace are. There are no criteria explained to find out what makes a smart political candidate.”
In addition to apparent considerations (these “loyalty tests” are frightening, unnecessary and totally at odds with the way previous administrations have worked), it should be noted that many officials invited to pass the “tests” have a real task to do.
Politico’s report added: “[Officials called for conversations say that training diverts attention from many political priorities, such as fighting the pandemic, revitalizing the economy or revising regulations, and reflecting the White House’s confidence that a ‘deep state’ works to undermine the president.”
The broader context is helping others to perceive how ridiculous this dynamic is. The White House faces several crises simultaneously, of which the president and his team have no plans to resolve. Indeed, even now, there is still no coherent national plan opposed to coronaviruses or a significant interest in governing.
We still have a scenario where the president criticizes coronavirus tests, while his team imposes loyalty tests. This is the opposite of what the White House’s priorities seem like.
