Father-son duo accused of armed robberies

The teenager was first arrested and charged last week for the alleged armed robbery of a Newcastle Road fuel station in Wallsend on 1 June.

He granted a conditional bond to appear in juvenile court on July 29.

After further investigations, Strike Force Nyrang investigators went to a space in Medowie and re-arrested the 14-year-old boy and a 36-year-old boy around 7 a.m. on July 28.

A search warrant was executed and several items were seized, in addition to clothing, and the couple were taken to Raymond Terrace Police Station.

There, the boy charged with 3 counts of annoying breakup and entry with him, 3 counts of robbery while armed with an offensive weapon, and a charge of attempted breakage and entry and robbery.

The father charged two counts of theft while armed with an offensive weapon, two counts of attempted annoying theft, access and robbery in company, and a charge of robbery and entry and annoying theft.

Police will allege that the couple were in the robberies and attempted robberies of several businesses in May and June this year.

The duo were denied bail. The father faces the court at Raymond Terrace on July 29, and the son faces children’s court the same day.

Investigations through Strike Force Nyrang continue.
