Jobs are at risk at a sports store in Kilmarnock, he revealed earlier this week.
DW Sports entered management on Monday with 1,704 jobs across the UK now threatening.
Founded through former Wigan Athletic owner Dave Whelan at the city’s Glencairn Retail Park store, he now faces a dubious future.
Managers say DW Sports lately operates 73 gyms and 50 retail locations in the UK, with 25 outlets closed before administration.
Trade through DW Sports has also ceased with immediate effect.
Closing sales started at other retail sites, with discounts implemented across all product lines.
One reads: “Because of management, all 1,704 roles in the business are in danger of redundancy, although administrators will try to save as many jobs as possible through a imaginable sale of all or part of the business as an ongoing business.”
Graham Newton, a spouse of BDO Business Retructuring, said: “Well-publicized demanding situations for retail and recreational sectors similar to those that have an effect on COVID-19 have particularly affected DW Sports’s operations.”
“However, we continue to negotiate as we explore the sale of as many DW Sports businesses as possible.”
