The Genesis G70 is a balanced and fun sports sedan.

As the turbo increases, the acceleration becomes increasingly frantic, until you’re at irresponsible speed levels.

The G70 3.3T Sport has adaptive shock absorbers that can tighten the ride if necessary. In maximum contexts, the G70 is comfortable and is made up of the worst roads that the region of my home in the north of New England has to offer. Even in sportier environments, the car can face rough surfaces, however, it is on curved and winding roads where it shines. If you take a look at Genesis and think it’s just a brilliant Hyundai, think again. The rear seat passengers are so lucky in the area department, however, the seats are at least soft and well padded. The low frame height of the G70 and its downward nose shape mean it can be difficult to load young people into the back seats of the car without hitting some heads.

It would be simple to think that the G70 infotainment formula is simplistic, but it is this simplicity that makes it easy to use. There is never any doubt about the screen or menu used and the software basically responds, which makes it much less difficult to navigate the screens. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are popular and the Lexicon audio formula fills the car with rich sound.

Ready to use, the G70 has features for which many other brands qualify extra. Navigation, souvenir seats, parking distance warnings and wireless charging are all ok. The mid-range Prestige package adds a front display screen, which has been taken by car to the sports package I tested.

Overall, the G70 is a well-thought-out car that offers physically powerful features in a fairly inexpensive package. It’s as sumptuous and comfortable as any BMW 3 Series or Mercedes-Benz C-Class and brings much more warmth under the hood. There is no explanation why not buy one, unless you probably have to have a more prestigious logo on your hood.
