Cillizza’s own tweet calling out Trump’s use of the word “riots” was mocked online because it was accompanied by an image that showed what appeared to be law enforcement officers standing in front of a building completely engulfed in flames.

“Trump’s efforts to call “riots” to what’s in major cities are at least a little bit of his desperation, politically speaking, right now,” Cillizza tweeted.

Cillizza tries to make his point in his newsletter by highlighting Trump’s recent comments at a rally in New Hampshire and the Republican National Convention. Trump said he “condemns riots, looting, arson and violence” in cities like Portland, Minneapolis and Chicago, Cillizza said.
He wrote that Trump probably felt that “the race was slipping away” and that he had to hold on to the “events that followed The Shooting of Jacob Blake in Kenosha before this month in a sign not of non-violent demonstrations, but of radical left-wing riots and destruction of cities. Fix »

He highlighted Trump’s plan for Kenosha later this week, as opposed to the will of the governor of Wisconsin, and said the president will make sure that “people see what’s happening in the country as ‘riots’ rather than ‘demonstrations’ because it’s a key component of Trump’s ‘return strategy’.
For many on social media, Cillizza’s research did not pass the smell test and wondered if he was following the news from those cities.
There have been questions in the media as the Portland Police Department has used the term “” too arbitrarily, however, KATU reported this month that in the 80-day area, police declared thirteen times. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune published a headline on Sunday that read in part, “Between the sy COVID, the appeal of downtown Minneapolis was put to the test.” The Washington Post before this month, after another shooting involving police, appeared on the cover, “The Windows Smash Business Looters” along Chicago’s beautiful mile after the shooting involving police.
Cillizza’s own chain has been accused of not forgetting the news of Chicago’s sacking. Anderson Cooper, the network’s host, had a two-hour show the following night and loyal to the riots in two minutes and 36 seconds, even though there were more than a hundred arrests and thirteen policemen injured.
Chicago police superintendent David Brown said, “This was not an organized demonstration, but an incident of natural crime.”
Cillizza did not respond to an email from Fox News for comment. For weeks, Trump has called himself a “law and order” selection in 2020 and has warned that voting for Joe Biden is a vote for greater anarchy.

Trump entered Twitter Sunday night and asked when “Slow Joe Biden” is going to criticize “ANTIFA’s anarchists, thugs and agitators.”
Trump said Biden can simply oppose violent protests because he would lose the “Crazy Bernie Super Liberal” vote, referring to senator Bernie Sanders’ supporters.
