Reuters reports that the worker’s death has led to a debate about the current situation of undocumented immigrants in Europe, in the agricultural sector.
Eleazar Blandon, 42, buried in his hometown of Jinotega several weeks after his death in Spanish watermelon camps, sparked media policy and complaint about the environment of migrants in Europe’s rich countries.
“Now you will rest in peace, after such a long journey,” Blandon’s brother Kamil said at the funeral that he saw the musicians dragging the coffin through the streets of Jinotega.
