Urena, one of 18 Marlins who tested positive for COVID-19 in the previous season and received permission Saturday to resume baseball activities at the team’s educational facility of choice in Jupiter, reports MLB.com’s Joe Frisaro.
Along with Urena, other beginner pitchers, Sandy Alcantara and Caleb Smith, are among the positive players who are now in a position to prepare to return to the active roster, as none of the 3 pitchers have noticed any game action since last July., everyone will probably want a week or more to have their arms repackaged before they begin their service. The Marlins are not exactly full of ideal replacements in rotation at this time, so it is imaginable that Ureña will activate earlier than expected and take care of a limited number of releases during their initial appearances.
