Cornwall New Horizons musicians to dust off their instruments

The Cornwall New Horizons Band hopes to face COVID-19 blues with music.

Through the band’s New Horizons Music program, founder Raymond Lacroix hopes to share his love of music with the citizens of Cornwall and the region who once touched tools in elementary school.

“A lot of other people played flute, trumpet or even saxophone at school,” he says.”Most of them stopped betting after first and high school. We have to do it to get them to play again.”

Anyone who participates in the program receives a used tool from some other member.

“We exercised them to get them out, ” said Lacroix.” It’s often the new retirees who sign up for us.”

Once the aspiring musician is considered to have enough education and education, he is invited to participate in one of the 3 weekly practices, all at Cornwall Bandshell in Lamoureux Park.

“We cannot practice indoors due to COVID,” Lacroix said. “We look forward to playing indoors as winter approaches.”

Monday educational sessions are reserved for the latest musicians, while Tuesdays are reserved for the most experienced musicians and Thursdays are for the organization itself.

The organization in 2015, with only 8 members practicing once a week, now has 18 members plus seven replacement musicians.

Anyone wishing to participate in the program can do so by sending an email to Lacroix [email protected] information about the initiative can be found on the band’s website, cornwallnewhorizonsband.org
