WASHINGTON (AP) – President Donald Trump will seek to revive his hopes of re-election this week at the convention in much of the online Republican Party, hit by the coronavirus pandemic, economic turmoil, racial unrest, and polls that indicate fierce fighting.
Trump and his key aides have fought over the weekend to make an optimistic turn to the conference as he prepares to go to North Carolina on Monday to officially begin the four-day event.
“I think we’ll see anything that’s very uplifting and positive, that’s what I’d like it to be,” the president told Fox News.
He tried to establish a stark contrast to the recently concluded Democratic conference, which he called “the darkest, highest and darkest conference” in history.
