The Kremlin-backed group, accused of meddling in the 2016 election, paid American writers to publish articles criticizing Joe Biden, praising President Trump and criticizing Black Lives Matter for a fake conservative news site, according to a Reuters report on Thursday, the time of its kind in Russia, an attempt to seed department among the American electorate ahead of the election.
In the most recent effort, other people associated with the Internet Research Agency established a false independent media outlet in June to target right-wing social media users, two other people familiar with an FBI investigation into the activity told Reuters.
The site, the Press Room for U. S. and European Citizens (NAEBC), has republished conservative media articles and reportedly hired real American journalists to write about existing political issues.
These articles were then shared on social media through a network of accounts that were put through journalists and editors in an effort to succeed among right-wing voters.
Reports attacking Democratic presidential candidate Joe Biden criticize Black Lives Matter, praise President Trump and protect Kyle Rittenhouse, the 17-year-old accused of shooting three other people in Kenosha, Wisconsin, populate the site.
Current headlines on the front page come with “REALITY-BASED: Sleepy Joe has delayed the 180-year policy!””Donald Trump didn’t pay taxes? Good for him,” Trump’s five strategic goals masterfully achieved in the first presidential debate “and” The Biden Foundation promoted transsexuals to 18-month-old babies.
While fake news would not have caught much attention from major social networks (Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn), which, according to The Daily Beast, deleted their accounts after the Reuters report, NAEBC generated some stir on the Gab and Talk platforms. popular with conservative groups.
This is the moment when the Kremlin-backed organization has tried to succeed in the U. S. electorate as a fake news site in recent months. In early September, Facebook met and closed a network of accounts and pages that generated traffic to a left-wing site, Peace Data, which featured profiles of other fake people who resembled the site’s publishers who were used to recruit genuine writers for articles. Articles published on Peace Data, though more commonly apolitical, seemed destined to divide Democrats by presenting the Biden-Harris price ticket as a tool for conservatives.
Two hounds spoke to Forbes about how they had been recruited to write for Peace Data, explaining, in retrospect, that they had seen warning signs. “Two of its editors had very similar images. His [avatars], Twitter profiles, looked like twins,” said a freelance writer, who spoke on condition of anonymity for fear of additional repercussions on his career. They would also send an email and a ‘would still be a word,’ he said. “It’s a surreal delight to think you’re stuck in a Russian intelligence operation. I think I almost ruined my career.
