Tour operators reported that the early reaction of tourists was much greater than before, even in the middle of the pandemic.
The world’s largest mangrove forest, the Sundarbans, is expected to reopen to tourists on Sunday in five situations after a seven-month closure due to the existing Covid-19 pandemic.
Burigoalini forest station in Shyamnagar upazila informed trawry homeowners at an assembly on Saturday morning.
The situations are: no trawter can bring more than 20 tourists, tourists will not be able to send any product other than food, each trawler must have garbage baskets for sanitation and waste disposal, you can not use microphone or soundboard in a trawter. .
Meanwhile, there is a festive atmosphere among local trawlers and boatmen following the announcement of the reopening.
They fix and whiten their unused boats and trawlers for a long time.
Tour operators said they work basically in the Sundarbans from October to April, however, even at festivals or special holidays, operators take tourists to the Sundarbans with other packages.
They said the immediate reaction of tourists is much greater than before, even in the middle of the pandemic.
Deputy forest curator Sultan Ahmed said: “Tourists will be able to access the Sundarbans from Sunday. We’ve already received permission from the department. However, tourists must abide by the rules of fitness when travelling. “
He claimed that sometimes a maximum of 75 more people were allowed on a giant ship. Tour operators deserve to bring fewer tourists if necessary.
Bhabatosh Kumar Mandal, president of the Burigoalini (Nildumari) Ghat Trawler Owners Association and president of the UP, said tour operators had suffered as much as cruise ship owners, who had been affected by the closure for about seven months. .
“It will take a long time to triumph over the loss. The operators already have their arrangements after learning of the reopening,” he said.
There are tourist attractions in Sundarbans, with more than 45,000 tourists visiting them from November to March, the peak time for Sundarbans tourism.
The government limited tourist gatherings at Sundarbans, a Unesco World Heritage site, on 19 March to prevent it from spreading the coronavirus pandemic.
