Coach Matt Rhule said Monday that he expects McCaffrey (ankle) to be activated via IR for Sunday’s game opposite the Chiefs, Myles Simmons reports on the Panthers’ official website.
The 24-year-old ball carrier has already missed six games after he was first given a calendar of four to six weeks. Optimism was developing that McCaffrey would return in Week 9, but this is the time in 4 days. rhule has said he “expects” McCaffrey’s return and that the coaches will have the final verdict. Although the language is far from safe, the backup star will exercise this week, which bodes well for his chances of playing. evidently it will be Clear No. 1 once he is healthy, however Rhule reiterated Monday that Mike Davis had won a role in the offensive in the future. According to DAVID Newton of ESPN, that doesn’t necessarily mean McCaffrey may not be an all-time player. Davis can align himself with the receiver open while McCaffrey is on the field.
