Madison, WI (WDJT) – Gov. Tony Evers announced Thursday, October 29, that the Wisconsin National Guard will lend a hand to local election officials as members of the voting station for the November 3 election in Wisconsin.

“The Wisconsin National Guard played a key role in our reaction to the COVID-19 pandemic and this project is no different,” Governor Evers said. “As Wisconsin faces a pressing crisis with more than 200,000 positive CASES of COVID-19 across the state, the Guard will be needed to ensure that Election Day runs smoothly and that the electorate and election officials get the assistance they need. “

Approximately 400 infantry soldiers and citizen aviators of the Wisconsin National Guard will mobilize for the active duty state in the coming days to the Wisconsin Electoral Commission and secretaries across the state.

The Guard continues to work heavily with the Wisconsin Electoral Commission and responds to requests from local election officials, if necessary.

Troops will report to the paintings on Sunday to get the education and start getting the assignments.

Secretaries will be reported on Monday for specific education and assistance in the installation of the voting station, before playing the role of classical election agents on Election Tuesday. Troops will be released from their posts on Wednesday, November 4.

Wisconsin National Guard members live in all 72 Wisconsin counties and will serve in the county in which they live.

Guards in polling stations will wear civilian clothing and perform the same functions and tasks as other volunteers who historically occupy state electoral colleges.

The state has asked the Guard for assistance at the ballot box due to a severe shortage of elections in the state due to considerations on COVID-19.
