Laine Hardy says that when discussions began about recording a Christmas song, she thought of some of the music that had had it over the years. And “Please Come Home For Christmas” came to mind immediately.
“I have an idea about the Eagles song,” Hardy explains. It’s not his song, it’s his version. I grew up with vintage rock influences and that’s what I was looking to record. “
The song written through blues singer and pianist Charles Brown, who first recorded it in 1960; others have taken it since then and made it popular, such as The Eagles in 1978 and Jon Bon Jovi in the early 1990s.
Hardy says the feeling of “getting home at Christmas” sounds especially true with everything that’s happened in 2020 because of COVID-19.
“With everything that is happening right now, there will be many other people who will miss the circle of relatives and enjoy some at Christmas. So I looked to do my own editing of the song and I hope so. raise other people this year.
He also sought to share some of his own Christmas memories. Hardy grew up in the small town of Livingston, Louisiana, and has traveled for years in the family photo circle to accompany some in the music video.
“During my childhood, we met as a circle of relatives and opened gifts and took pictures. You’ll see pictures of my baby and old, quirky pictures of me. Navigating them brought back a lot of memories.
Just over a year ago, Hardy won the 17th season of American Idol (May 2019). He has special memories of his paintings with judges Luke Bryan, Lionel Ritchie and Katy Perry, and maintains close contacts with fellow singers and friends. met on the show. He was invited to return several times to his last appearance on May 10, where he directed “Life Is A Highway”.
He moved to Nashville last summer and this year went back and forth between nashville and his family circle house in Louisiana. While pursuing his musical career, there were no live performances, he released new music and stayed connected with enthusiasts through Virtual Tours. He says he really enjoyed the online shows.
“I love music. I love people. “
Last July, he released a bachelor titled “Tiny Town” that surpassed 2 million audio and video streams, and is now on country radio. His words struck close to home the first time he heard them.
“The song written through Michael Tyler,” Hardy says. “He comes from Missouri and this looks a lot like a small town like where I come from. Being able to record it is an honor.
Hardy has another new song called “Other LA”. This is the one he co-wrote (with Andy Sheridan, Erik Dylan and Dan Isbel) after spending time on Los Angeles American Idol.
“I was there for about seven or eight weeks and in the middle of it all I wrote ‘Other LA’ in my notes. LA is short for Los Angeles and is also short for Louisiana. So one day, in a writing session, I scrolled through my notes and discovered them. “
The concept to show that if Los Angeles is a special place, there’s nothing like home.
“The song is about palm trees, the weather and everything. California is great, but my center is at home and I’m still anchored here in Louisiana. “
Hardy says he is pleased to spend time there now, while continuing to paint on song composition.
“I’ve picked up inspiration while I’m at home. I started writing songs last year and fell in love with them. It’s like portraying an image, creating anything that belongs to you. These are your feelings painted on a song and it’s cold.
He has a new album in preparation for release early next year and continues with virtual excursion dates, however, for now he is ahead to spend the holidays with his circle of relatives and think about how lucky he is to release his first Christmas song as an artist.
“I’m excited to record a Christmas song,” he says. “When I was a kid, I never expected to be a country singer or play music or anything like that. So this is a dream for me.
