Forced to locate another venue for games and workouts due to new fitness restrictions in Santa Clara County, the San Francisco 49ers and NFL began looking at several places for the team.
One possible compromise house being discussed is San Diego, the chargers’ former home, said a user familiar with USA TODAY Sports on Sunday morning, who spoke under anonymity while discussions continue.
There was also talk of stadium sharing in Arizona and Dallas, the user confirmed.
The San Diego SDCCU has been inactive for more than four seasons in the NFL after the Chargers moved to the Los Angeles area and the stadium is expected to be demolished in 2021.
It is unclear how quickly the resolution of the 49ers and the NFL will be taken, the league has already ordered all groups to operate practically on Monday and Tuesday to check to slow down or prevent the spread of coronavirus on the premises.
On Saturday, the county imposed a transitional ban on all tactile sports and issued a mandatory quarantine to travel in the county more than 150 miles away. The order is expected to take effect on Monday and remain in effect for at least 3 weeks.
The 49ers were scheduled to play on December 7 against the Buffalo Bills and december 13 against the Washington football team before completing the season at home on January 3 through the Seattle Seahawks.
