FTSE 100 wins in vaccine hopes

(RTTNews) – UK stocks rose on Monday because the symptoms of economic recovery in China and Japan, along with hopes for a Covid-19 vaccine, helped investors forget about considerations about higher cases of coronavirus and new lockouts.

Britain will be the first country to conduct the latest phase tests of the progression of an experimental coronavirus vaccine through the pharmaceutical company Janssen, a subsidiary of Johnson.

The Oxford Covid vaccine and its evolution through the US biotechnology company Novavax are already undergoing large-scale clinical trials in British patients.

The FTSE hundred benchmark rose 47 points, or 0. 7%, to 6,363 after falling 0. 4% on Friday.

Diversified engineering company Smiths Group rose 2. 5% after it said it planned to meet the year-round market outlook.

Security company G4S advanced slightly. The company stated that its Board of Directors considered the Group’s Retail Cash Solutions business to constitute an exceptional price not recognized within G4S.
