UNCASVILLE, Connecticut (AP) – Drew Peterson scored 19 points, brothers Evan Mobley and Isaiah Mobley had a double-double and Southern California beat BYU 79-53 on Tuesday in the first game of the Roman Legends Classic.
USC lost 18-17 before scoring 14 of 16 problems, adding a 10-0 run to close half, for a 31-20 lead. Peterson, a Movement of Rice, scored thirteen problems in the middle. BYU has made one of his last nine half-time shots and finished nine out of 37 (24. 3%), adding 2 out of 16 to 3 numbers.
Peterson scored two 3-point problems in the first six minutes of the moment in an 18-5 run as USC took a 24-point lead.
In the first year ahead, Evan Mobley had 17 problems and 11 rebounds in his first double-double schoolboy and Isaiah Mobley added 11 numbers and 11 tables for USC (3-0). Tahj Eaddy, a graduate transferred from southeastern Missouri, scored trouble.
Peterson 7 out of 10 in the field, Evan Mobley 8 out of 12 and USC fired 53. 3%. BYU finished 19 of 69 shots for 27. 5%. The Trojans beat BYU 50-35 and had a 19-0 merit in second-chance points.
Senior transferor Matt Haarms and Gideon George scored 11 points for BYU (3-1), who lost five of their seven most sensitive scorers on a 24-8 team last season.
