Parkour Group calls on IIC to reject inclusion sport for 2024 Olympic Games

Parkour Earth has written a letter to the International Olympic Committee asking the ruling framework to reject any proposal through the International Gymnastics Federation to accompany the game at the 2024 Summer Games.

On its online page on Tuesday, Parkour Earth said it had obtained data that the FIG could expand a proposal to include parkour under its gym umbrella for the 2024 Summer Olympics in Paris, an effort the organization said could threaten sovereignty of the sport:

“As you know, parkour has been identified as a sovereign, distinct and independent game in its own right and, as such, cannot be regarded as a field or a subsidiary of gymnastics or any other game. Our game will have to be, and will have to be established through the foreign network Parkour / Freerunning / Art Du Deplacement, through a federation procedure of our NGB / National Federations, according to established and identified foreign standards, on the established right to self-determination. Characteristic of this right, we, the FIG, as a foreign network, freely determine our playful, social and cultural development. “
