Winter sports practices delayed until January 4 for HCPSS students

HOWARD COUNTY, MD – All face-to-face contacts in the Howard County public schools formula will remain suspended during the winter break, and all commandos will continue virtually due to emerging coronavirus infection rates in the county, authorities said. In addition, the winter athletics season, which was scheduled in the past to begin on December 7, was postponed to January 4, 2021. Virtual athletics sessions will continue and online registration for winter athletics will remain open through HCPSS Connect.

There will be no adjustments to meal services, which will continue in all foods on the days when the school is in session.

HCPSS has to suspend all existing face-to-face contacts as of November 19. Howard County remains above a COVID-19 positivity rate of five% and a case rate of more than two five, consisting of 100,000.
