TAMPA, Fla. (AP) – Matt Corral threw for 342 yards and two touchdowns, leading Mississippi to a disappointing 26-20 over seventh-seeded Indiana on Saturday in the Outback Bowl.
A 3-yard pass from Corral to Dontario Drummond put the Rebels (5-5) ahead with 4:12 to play. Defending Ole Miss made another save to save the school’s first no-loss record since turning 6-6 years old in 2017.
Coach Lane Kiffin rewarded the game forward with a new contract, despite only gambling on his debut season with the Rebels.
Drummond finished with six receptions for 110 yards. Corral finished 30 of 44 interception passes, adding a 5-yard TD to Casey Kelly that put Ole Miss to a 13-3 lead midway through the quarter hour.
Jack Tuttle finished 26 of 45 for 201 yards when he started at Michael Penix Jr. ‘s position for Indiana, who lost its star quarterback to a season-ending knee injury last November.
Stevie Scott III ran for 99 backyards and scored in backyard playoffs 3 and 2 to help Indiana with a 20-6 deficit in the fourth quarter.
