Outdoor market planned for Stratford Shakespeare Theatre site

STRATFORD, CT – Plans are underway to open an outdoor market on the grounds of Stratford’s Shakespeare Theatre in January.

Called The Shakespeare Market, the bimonthly occasion will be for community-supported suppliers and activities, according to the market website.

Stratford was once the home of the American Shakespeare Festival Theatre, but the venue remained normally empty for decades before it was destroyed in a chimney two years ago. Discussions are ongoing between city officials and network members about the most productive way to use long-term assets. .
