The popular gearslutz professional audio faces calls to replace their call with the argument that it is not favorable and derogatory to women.
A petition has been launched calling for repositioning through Cam Ran in Change. org, who needs to see a new call “that more as it should be represents the team community. “So far it has been signed through more than 2,600 people.
“All the engineers I know have used/used [Gearslutz], and the top engineers I know feel uncomfortable with the name,” he says. “I, one of the two women sitting with an engineering elegance and an instructor, miscalculated the website, apologising for the name, but mentioning it because it is a vital resource to be more informed about the equipment.

“While there has been a lot of progress in the curtain network and the global audio for women, we still exist at a time when every single woman I know who works on the audio has been asked about the member of the organization she’s going to come out with when she takes over.
“All the women I know have been called whores in a derogatory way. All the women I know who paint in a box dominated by men have felt objected and sponsored. And not all women are angry about this name, however, many other people are and recurring theme.
“It would probably seem insignificant, and other people will probably say that we focus our energies on more vital equality issues, but we can do both. We can communicate about things in our network that make us feel uncomfortable, starting with this site created through men, who have never been called in an odious and pejorative way.
“Those who have never had to show their merit in their box just because of their gender. Those who have never realized that no one assumes that their point of good fortune is due to the fact that they were sleeping with the right person. “
In response, Gearslutz founder Julian Standen allegedly said in a now-deleted message: “The word” whore “is not obligatory [sic] just a pejorative word for women, referring to a user motivated by his preference without his brain, a bit like nerds who regularly spend cash on a bunch of machines they don’t want or don’t want. The team is no longer a tool, but a non-public purpose and is fetishized. it’s a smart word to describe other people who have interaction in this behavior. “
Standen refers to a lesser-known definition of the word, which is more used as an offensive and derogatory term for promiscuous women.
The request has provoked intense debate between those who agree to replace the call and others who need it to stay.
At the conclusion of his petition message, Cam Ran states: “In addition to disturbing other people a little, it is also a very unpleasant professional call that makes other people feel uncomfortable in an educational environment or in the workplace.
“I look to a broader future in which women and presenters feel comfortable in all spheres of painting and passion, and this small replacement would be a big step forward. If you are irritated or upset by this request, ask yourself why. “
