LOS ANGELES (Reuters) – The Coachella Music Festival, to be held in Southern California in April 2021, was cancelled Friday through local fitness officials due to the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.
It is the third time that the outdoor event, one of the largest music festivals in the world, has been cancelled or postponed due to the pandemic.
“The Coachella Valley Music and Art Festival and the Recently Scheduled Country Stagecoach Music Festival for April 2021 are canceled,” said Dr Cameron Kaiser, Riverside County Health Officer.
It stated that a resolution had been made on the likelihood of exposure to the virus.
Coachella brings part of a million enthusiasts to an outdoor venue in the California. Su the April 2020 desert was postponed first by October 2020 and back to April 2021.
The festival organizers did not respond to a request for comment, no main points had been announced for the April 2021 schedule and no new dates were given for the occasion.
The resolution follows an increase in the number of coronavirus cases and deaths in Southern California over the more than two months.
After being eliminated in 2020, major cultural gatherings are changing dates for 2021. The organizers of the Glastonbury Music Festival in England canceled the June occasion last week and the Cannes Film Festival in France postponed their classic event this week from May to early July.
