Former NFL player and sports television commentator Marcellus Wiley responded to President Biden’s recent executive order on women’s sports calling for a separate competitive category for transgender people.
“As the father of three daughters and husband of a former school athlete, this hits the house in a special way,” the former Pro-Bowl defensive player tweeted Friday. “It’s time to create a different transgfinisher category in the competition! Also, I think it’s time to start a podcast, as some things need to be discussed in detail!#el respect. “
Biden signed an executive order on her first day to require biological men who identify as women to participate in girls’ sporting events, which some have called “the end of women’s sports. “
“Children can be informed without worrying about whether they will be denied access to baths, locker rooms or school sports,” the decree says. “All other persons will be treated similarly before the law, regardless of gender identity or sexual orientation. “
The ordinance stipulates that any school that receives federal investment will have to allow biological men who identify as women to play in girls’ sports groups or be the subject of administrative action through the Department of Education.
Most of Wiley’s tweet responses were positive, some disagreed and said they deserve only two sports categories: men and women.
“I hear this rejection,” Wiley replied to one of the comments by rejecting the proposal for a 3rd category for transgender athletes. “But do you respect everything? That’s what I’m immersed in. “
Transgender athletes on sports occasions have been a moot topic in recent years, exacerbated by several cases of biologically male athletes who won championships on the best school sports occasions of women.
Several states have taken steps to counter the trend with legislation, adding in Idaho, where Republican Gov. Brad Little signed a law last year banning biological men in girls’ sports competitions.
