Amazon has donated $1 million to the National Museum of African American Music.
The Nashville-based museum will host its official opening rite on Monday, with galleries open to the public at the end of this month. Amazon will also be involved in opening festivities.
“There is a rich tapestry of stories to tell within the walls of NMAAM, and the museum is doing an ordinary task to make them colorful and accessible,” said Courtney Ross, Senior Director of Outdoor Affairs at Amazon in Nashville, uttering the “We are thrilled to play a role in bringing them to life and contributing to the musical education of the Nashville community. “
NMAAM President H. Beecher Hicks III said: “Amazon’s gracious contribution to the museum is an investment only in our mission, but also in Nashville’s music community. The museum tells a story that is meant to be lived, newly learned, and it is through associations like the ones we can provide to our customers.
“A soundtrack for everyone: Amazon STEAM Days” and “The Best of Theatre” are among the music education projects presented thanks to Amazon’s $1 million donation. The first initiative (STEAM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Mathematics) Sponsor school visits from local schools to the museum as a component of Amazon’s purpose of creating a collaborative learning environment. The moment refers to the museum’s internal theatre which will feature live performances and other events.
“We are grateful that Amazon has adopted the Nashville network and is committed to expanding opportunities and access for our students,” dr. Adrienne Battle, director of Metro Nashville Public Schools. “Understanding and experiencing deep culture has an effect on -Americans in all genres of music through NMAAM will surely enrich the education and life of our students.
David Bozeman, Amazon’s vice president of transportation services, added, “We are proud that Amazon’s partnership provides more young people and academics to the museum and greater educational enrichment. The intersection of musicians’ artistic elegance with science and generation will continue. “to give all Nashville residents a wonderful opportunity to be informed and educated.
