This is the first glimpse into the transformation of the old Showcase cinema at Belle Vue into a new high school.
Co-Op Academy Belle Vue, which will be a loose one for 1,200 academics, is expected to welcome its first seventh-grade academic organization in September.
Temporary accommodation will be provided at the close of Connell Co-op College until construction of the new school opens in 2023.
A formal planning request to rebuild 13-acre Hyde Road has now been filed with Manchester City Council.
The documents show a modern L-shaped construction divided into 3 “zones”, starting with a two-story sports construction that will come with a gymnasium, auditorium and theater studio.
The three-story central construction includes the school reception, a network center with a library on the floor and a dining room.
An adjacent fitness center also has a separate front to use outside business hours through the Wider Belle Vue community, next to a 140-seat car park.
At the back of the proposed building, which lately is a car park, two giant play areas will be developed, as well as a multi-purpose play area (MUGA) and grilles.
MUGA would have 3 courts to house tennis and basketball courts, a futsal box and practice spaces for netball and hockey.
The school will run through the Co-Op Academies Trust, which administers another 26 in the north of England, and is expected to meet the call for secondary schools in east Manchester.
An application submitted with the development of plans reads: “The Trust has an established reputation for offering a higher point of education in its existing schools and schools and will move its vision and revel in the good fortune of the new Belle Vue Academy.
“While the primary function of the academy is to provide education and education to young people over the age of 11 to 16, facilities are also expected to provide services and amenities that can be used through the broader network during the week. “
The school will hold 120 seventh graders at Connell Co-op College this year, and when fully built it will be to accommodate 240 seventh graders each year until it reaches full capacity by 2026.
Showcase, which had owned the well-known Belle Vue entertainment complex since 1989, agreed to sell the land to Manchester City Hall last year.
The city corridor had planned to build a 1200-seat high school at Nutsford Vale in Gorton, but questionable proposals found strong local opposition.
