Bitcoin jumped more than 8% Thursday to an all-time high of $48481 after Bank of NY Mellon said it had formed a new unit for consumers to maintain, move and factor virtual assets.

BNY Mellon’s new unit, as a virtual asset unit, is expected to launch bids e-year, the bank said.

Bitcoin lasts 5. 7% to $47387.
