In October, BYU offensive line coach Eric Mateos extended an offer to OL 2022 prospect George Maile. Maile, who is from Bingham High School along with BYU signatory Isaiah Glasker, is the brother of Utah State 2021 signatory Tupou Maile. USC, Utah, California, Nebraska, Oregon and, more recently, Baylor, among others. He’s listed as a four-star rookie at 247 Sports. I recently had the chance to catch up with George and get an update on his recruitment.
It’s been five months since Maile won a SPECIAL OFFER from BYU, and many have replaced in Provo ever since. Eric Mateos is in Baylor (hence Baylor’s recent offer) and BYU has a new offensive line coach at Darrell Funk. whom Maile describes as a “great and experienced coach,” will have to make up for lost time and temporarily identify a relationship with George.
Right now, Maile tells me that Oregon and Utah are the ones who are contacting him the most. Once COVID-19 protocols are removed and emails are allowed, Maile wishes the University of Texas.
Maile doesn’t have a constant resolution program, and BYU still has a lot to go through before he can get George’s engagement. After all, the Cougars face western powers.
