Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige enthusiasts “won’t have to wait long” to see a Southeast Asian superhero at Disney.
Feige speaking at a press conference today (February 2) for the launch of the broadcast service in Singapore. In a Q&A segment, Feige asked about the choice of a Southeast Asian superhero at Disney, given the upcoming release of Raya and Disney’s Latest Dragon, which is inspired by Southeast Asian cultures and will premiere at Disney on March 5.
When asked if it was “a good time to have a Southeast Asian Marvel superhero at Disney,” Feige replied, “I think so. And I don’t think you’d possibly have to wait long. We have announced a number of exhibitions and have more in process. »
Referring to a past he gave, Feige added, “As I said, the global outside your window, wherever you are, is what marvel global will represent. “
Feige gave additional main points about a possible Southeast Asian superhero, however, Marvel’s phase four includes his first Asian-directed superhero film, Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
The film, which ended last October, stars Simu Liu as the Chinese-born superhero Shang Chi and is expected to be released in July 2021. Other cast members also come with Awkwafina, Tony Leung and The Badios actors Ronny Chieng and Michelle Yeoh.

In 2019, Marvel also brought the Filipino superhero Wave in Marvel Comics’ War of the Realms: New Agents of Atlas, created through Asian-American editor Greg Pak, and her dress was designed through Filipino cartoonist Leinil Yu. He was also asked to create Wave’s backs story.
Later that year, Pak said he, Wong and pop artist Pop Mhan would provide a new Filipino superhero, appearing alongside Chinese superhero Aero in their title series.

In 2019, a team of Asian heroes was added to the mobile video game Marvel Future Fight, created through South Korean developer Netmarble Games in direct partnership with Marvel Entertainment under Disney.
As reported through IGN Southeast Asia, the 4 original characters of the game constitute 4 nations, 3 of which are from Southeast Asia: Thailand (the character of War Tiger), Vietnam (Blue Dragon), Malaysia (Sun Bird) and Taiwan (Shadow Shell).
Disney is scheduled to launch in Singapore on February 23 with content from six brands: Disney, Marvel, Pixar, Star Wars, National Geographic and Star. Subscriptions will cost S$11. 98 depending on the month and S$119. 98 depending on the year.
