TheWrap 18 National Arts Nominations on Monday
TheWrap founder and editor-in-chief, Sharon Waxman, won several nominations, adding online journalist of the year and two nominations for her waxWord column “The Decade When Hollywood Opened – Topraise the 2010s, on the entertainment and observation blog on diversity/gender categories.
She shared two nominations with publisher Beatrice Verhoeven: one in the Film Business category for the exclusive ‘Warner Bros Debates If’ Wonder Woman 1984 ‘Skip Theaters for Streaming, and one in the Music/Theatre/Performing Arts Business category for “Paradigm Revolt”. Verhoeven also won a nomination for his television film “How Hollywood Actors Resist the Pandemic: No Auditions, No Secondary Jobs, A Lot of Confusion. “
Waxman teamed up with journalist Trey Williams for the online hard news nomination for the exclusive “Indie STX Entertainment seeks cash or a buyer after a series of box office failures. “
Williams won 3 more nominations, adding one for his advertising history in the entertainment industry “Inside Endeavour’s Dire, Debt-Filled Fall From Hollywood’s Heights” and in the genre/diversity commentary category for his non-public essay “Why #BlackLivesMatter Matters: because of How Little Changed for others like me. “»
The podcast “TheWrap-Up”, presented through Waxman and assistant editor-in-chief Daniel Goldblatt, won two nominations, one for individual television interviews for “Can police systems (and should) remain the same in the midst of existing events?”and some other for the latest news (with Trey Williams) for “The complexities facing black hounds this week covering the protests. “
Award editor Steve Pond won two nominations, one for his feature film ‘How’ Parasite ‘Director Joon Ho created the most damaging film of the year’ and that of ‘Little Richard Appreciation: he summed up rock ‘n’ roll in one sentence. »
Artistic director Ada Guerin and her team won two nominations. He shared one with photographer duo HollenderX2 for the moving animation/graphics of Daily Show host Trevor Noah, and with Ryan Ward and photographer Irvin Rivera for TheWrap Oscar’s canopy “The Race Begins” with director Bong Joon Ho.
Columnists Mary Murphy and Michele Willens won two nominations, for their observation of the film ‘Clemency’, ‘Just Mercy’ sheds light on prisoners’ difficulties and for artistic observation ‘Will the Troubadour, Site of So Many Classic Music Moments, Survive the Pandemic?
The awards will be awarded in a rite in the spring of 2021 at the Biltmore Hotel in downtown Los Angeles.
