Not knowing if the Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra will take position this year, the Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam proposes to expand Chota Kailash, Lord Shiva’s original house in the Indian aspect of the Chinese border, as a main place of pilgrimage. “Chota Kailash, also called Adi Kailash is the original home of Lord Shiva and would possibly be the most productive pilgrimage site to make a stopover for Shiva worshippers across the country,” said Kedar Joshi, KMVN’s Preaspectnt.
Connectivity in Chota Kailash also took a step forward with the BRO that joined the Vyas Valley with a motorized road in June last year, which made it much more convenient for pilgrims to succeed on site, he said.
KMVN is the nodal firm of the annual Kailash-Mansarovar Yatra that did not take a position last year due to the coronavirus pandemic and will not be held this year also with preparatory meetings that have not been strengthened so far.
They are managed in the first week of February through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
KmVN president said he planned to go to Chota Kailash himself in April to inventory the infrastructure in the direction of the pilgrimage site.
Although well known to Shiva’s faithful, the infrastructure around Chota Kailash wants to move forward to attract more and more pilgrims to the lines of the chardham yatra, he said.
“For example, we must build a civilian helipad in Jolingkong for the convenience of pilgrims bound for Chota Kailash,” Joshi said.
Currently, about 1000 pilgrims make a stopover in Chota Kailash every year from June.
“I will be accompanied by Nigam officials who will find opportunities to attach Vyas Gufa, in the east corner of Vyas with Chota Kailash who is in the west corner,” Joshi said.
He said KMVN would like to invite Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Chota Kailash, who will go a long way to selling it as a devoted tourist destination.
