The Doraville Center Development Authority voted unanimously Monday night to move 128 acres of the property, called a meeting project, to a Grey Television subsidiary called Pearl Railroad Assembly Yard LLC, which first reported through Bisnow.
Gray Television owns or operates television stations and virtual homes in more than 90 U. S. television markets, adding Savannah, Augusta, Albany, and Columbus. Bisnow indicated that The Gipson Co. is also a spouse in the acquisition and will be its main developer.
Gray Television’s plans for the 128-acre acquisition come with “production studios and film studios and progression studios,” according to Monday’s progressing authority agenda. A plan for the first phase of mixed-use progression includes at least 10 film studios on 17 acres. and a separate construction for “electronic games, virtual media and robotics”.
Gipson plans to use some of the features that Integral Group, the property’s former developer, had already started, such as plans for 150 townhomes and an apartment assignment of approximately 850 units, the Atlanta Business Chronicle reported.
The progress authority owns the assets through a 2016 agreement with Integral Group, which included $1. 5 billion in bonds approved through a subsidiary of Integral to improve GM’s former plant, in addition to a 35% cut in asset tax for 30 years.
“The city of Doraville is extremely happy to marry Grey Television in this historic development,” said Doraville Mayor Joseph Geierman. “We’ve been working with Gray for months to reinvent the former General Motors plant.
