On 30 March, Italian aircraft manufacturer Tecnam held a webinar with leading general aviation organizations (GA) to discuss the industry’s role in the distribution of COVID vaccines.
Italian aircraft manufacturer Tecnam held a webinar with leading general aviation (GA) experts on March 30 to explore the industry’s role in the distribution of COVID vaccines.
The webinar, now available on YouTube, began with panel presentations and a P2012 TRAVELCARE video presentation recently presented through Tecnam, a specialized aeronautical solution for the transport of COVID vaccines.
Panellists, moderated through FLYER UK journalist Ian Seager, established the level of discussion by describing the key and demanding situations faced by COVID vaccine distribution systems around the world. optimizing delivery times to adapt to the limited lifespan of vaccines and establishing vaccination sites.
According to Ryan Waguespack, senior vice president of the National Air Transport Association (NATA), small aircraft like these have been instrumental in delivering COVID vaccines to remote areas, small Michigan islands, rural Montana veteran communities, and remote families in Alaska.
Describing America’s distribution system, Regional Air Cargo Carriers Association (RACCA) president Stanley Bernstein said it “almost business as usual” thanks to the country’s “very complicated chain of origin. “
According to Daniel Juzi, expert in crisis reaction and foreign progression at Mission Aviation Fellowship (MAF), african and South Asian countries are not as dependent on small aircraft. Your personal aircraft and NGOs to participate. Juzi stated that this is one of the reasons why most of these countries expect to obtain vaccines “only at the time of [20] 22 and [20] 23”.
However, the main idea of the webinar is that lately general aviation is underutilized as a tool for controlling and reacting to crises around the world.
Kyle Martin, Vice President of European Affairs at the General Aviation Manufacturers Association (GAMA), said top European governments see general aviation as “a useful logistics tool in their toolbox. “
Future Aviation/Aerospace Workforce News editor Kathryn Creedy said:
“[N] we will have to formalize the participation of general aviation so that in the future, in the event of a crisis or pandemic – we will in all likelihood [. . . ] – we can move those other people in a much more formal way. Government authorities, fitness authorities, want to know that this is a resource they should have and that the general aviation network will report before they are asked. They are in a position and willing to serve. “
Panellists agreed that strengthening the role of general aviation in crisis reaction and management, adding to the distribution of COVID vaccines, as well as its role as a resource in other herbal disasters, will require joint action to teach governments, regional regulators and the public.
Martin concluded:
“The benefits [of GA] are and that is why GAMA is proud to help the paints that Tecnam is making here today and to highlight the benefits that our industry can offer to the world. “
Tecnam CEO Giovanni Pascale Langer closed the webinar stating that “Tecnam is more than willing to invest even more in this issue. “
“Since we were hit by the pandemic, we have noticed that everyone plays [their] role. Today, we must say aloud that general aviation is there to do the same. We have the strength to bring benefits and where no one else can do it. Pascale Langer said.
Bernstein invited panelists to continue to promote general aviation as a valuable crisis reaction tool and on their progress at the upcoming annual RACCA convention scheduled for October 26 and 28, 2021 in Arizona.
