NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) – Two other people were taken to the hospital after suffering an electric surprise in a structure on Thursday afternoon.
The New Hanover County Sheriff’s Office said a structure team operated a crane at a structure site between 8116 and 8128 Market Street when it hit a major force line, causing an explosion.
NHSO says two team members were injured.
In total, two lines of force were on the ground. Luke Energy responded to the scene by cutting the force. The power lines were repaired and the force was restored.
EMS transported the other two people to the hospital, but their situations are unknown.
Duke Energy spokesman Jeff Brooks said the disruption of force caused by the turn of destination left 1,750 consumers without force. Luke was able to redirect the force to reduce disruption to six hundred consumers and repair strength for everyone in just over an hour.
