Walmart has filed a complaint with the U. S. Patent and Trademark Office. U. S. , claiming that a logo proposal for the Kanye West Yeezy logo is too much for the retail giant logo.
In its complaint, filed last week and reported Tuesday through Bloomberg, Walmart argued that Yeezy’s proposed design “probably causes confusion, error and deception” among consumers, which could lead them to mistakenly associate Yeezy products with Walmart.
The Yeezy logo consists of 8 three-point rays that radiate outward in a star-shaped pattern. The Walmart logo, which the company has been for since 2007, features six forged spokes with rounded ends.
Walmart stated that the possible “false affiliation” of consumers between the two brands can simply “damage and damage” Walmart and the “goodwill” related to its own brand.
Representatives of West and Yeezy responded to requests for comment.
Yeezy, a footwear collaboration between West and Adidas, and soon to come with a costume collaboration with Gap, helped make West the richest black American in history. Collaborations would have a combined price of $3. 2 billion to $4. 7 billion, while West is now the price. about $6. 6 billion.
Walmart, which he said in his also collaborated with celebrities, had a market capitalization of $389. 3 billion at the market close Tuesday night.
