Campers at the Champlain Canal glamping can kayak in the canal.
SCHUYLERVILLE – A camp in the C-5 lock on the Champlain Canal will be open from Memorial Day to September 8 and in all likelihood beyond. Reservations to use the “glamping” site are ongoing.
He is controlled through Camp Rockaway, an excursion company, which will offer tents, beds, lighting fixtures and other safari-style equipment.
“This night destination combines exceptional camping pleasure with opportunities to see and stop at the rich and colorful canal landscape in a whole new way,” Governor Andrew Cuomo said of the camp. Queen size: a long bed with reminiscent foam mattress, side tables with sun lamps, pillows, bedding, extra blankets, towels and cleaning products. The camps will also feature fireplaces, a picnic and grilling area, hammocks, a grocery store, mobile phone charging station, bathroom and shower, and games such as Cornhole. The site, along the banks of the Champlain Canal and the Hudson River, is adjacent to the C-5 Lock and the Empire State Trail and is within walking distance of Hudson Park Crossing and downtown Schuylerville.
There are a variety of simple recreational activities, such as hiking, cycling, kayaking, canoeing and many restaurants, department stores and entertainment venues, such as sailing aboard the Caldwell Belle or visiting Saratoga National Historic Park.
