A coronavirus testing center was forced to close early after stones were thrown at staff, police said.
Staff at the Rotherham site, which is in the parking lot of the Maltthrough Leisure Centre, were attacked Tuesday night by stone-throwing youths.
South Yorkshire police said “another night” the station had to close early due to antisocial behavior.
The Ministry of Health and Social Affairs, which manages the site, said the attacks were “abominable. “
The local Rotherham South police team of the South Yorkshire force said “local youths” were suspected of being involved in the attacks.
Between 24 and 26 March, a dispersal order was imposed due to the “continued antisocial behaviour” of the teams collecting and assaulting staff, police said.
Officials stated that such behavior will be “tolerated” and that “positive action” will be taken when participants are identified.
A spokesman for the Ministry of Health and Social Affairs said that the attacks and abuses they opposed were “unjustified. “
“They are making paintings to prevent the spread of Covid-19 and help us all return to a more general way of life,” the spokesman said.
The no-appointment site must be open for appointments booked in advance from 8 am to 8 pm seven days a week, according to Rotherham Council.
A council spokesman said: “We are disappointed that the staff of the control site, who provided the municipality with an essential service during the pandemic, have been subjected to antisocial behaviour. “
The authority works with partners to put “a number of measures” in position to ensure the protection of the Maltby site for all, the spokesman added.
