PayBy, an Abu Dhabi-based payments startup, has partnered with Al Maya Group to offer you secure, contactless payment features at 49 of its supermarkets in the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
When buying food at Al Maya supermarkets, consumers will need to provide the QR code in their PayBy app, allow the cashier to scan it, and then wait for confirmation of payment.
Cashiers at Al Maya supermarkets would use PayBy’s smart POS machines to scan the QR code sent to the customer’s mobile phone. Smart POS devices allow merchants to obtain or refund cash that has been sent from a transaction.
PayBy will also be the virtual or online shopping platform of al-Maya supermarkets.
In addition, PayBy will be incorporated into Al Maya’s mobile app, so that online shoppers can pay against delivery with cashless payment options.
