Oklahoma Gov. Kevin Stitt signed a law that would rename a stretch of road to former President Donald Trump.
On Friday, the Republican governor signed a bus bridge and a name bill, which renamed a 20-mile stretch of highway, stretching from Boise City, Oklahoma, to the state border with Texas, as the President Donald J Freeway.
The bill first ran into an obstacle when Democratic lawmakers noted that state law required, in most cases, that a user be dead for at least 3 years before a highway or bridge can be named in his or her honor, according to the Oklahoman. Republicans have repealed the 3-year waiting period, allowing the highway to bear Trump’s name. Lawmakers who supported the bill plan to pay for the new signage that will be placed along the road.
