The third game between the Celtics and Nets isn’t the first time Irving has played at TD Garden since leaving the Celtics two seasons ago, but it’s the first time he’s played in construction with the assistance of enthusiasts.
Things exploded this week when Irving talked about his return to TD Garden for the first time with enthusiasts in the building. He said he hoped there would be no “belligerence or racism” from Nets enthusiasts.
And, of course, unsurprisingly, when Irving stepped out on the field, a warm welcome wasn’t in expect.
Even before the complaint began, he won boos from fans.
