OXFORD – Ole Miss baseball will host an NCAA regional tournament for the third time in a row.
The Rebels decided Sunday as one of 16 groups that will host the first NCAA tournament starting Friday. Wayze Field will host a 4-group double elimination tournament, one of which will be Ole Miss, with the winner of the qualifying tournament for the super regional circular.
Ole Miss (41-19) is the host for the tenth time in history and the third time in as many NCAA tournaments. Ole Miss has moved from Oxford Regional to Super Regional on six occasions.
Seven SEC’s were selected as hosts this year, along with Ole Miss, Arkansas, Vanderbilt, Mississippi, Tennessee, Florida and South Carolina.

The Rebels earned the right to host through ranking among the most sensitive in the country in terms of wins, RPI and RPI Top 25. In Sunday night’s ranking, Ole Miss is ranked 13th in the RPI, having the third number of wins in the country. RPI Top 25, and is one of six national groups with 41 or more wins.
Since May 20, the NCAA has announced that it will not restrict fan participation in the spring championships; it will be up to local and state governments to set rules on how many fans can attend the regionals. sporting occasions since March.
The NCAA will announce which warring parties will take part in the Oxford Regional and which other ole Miss host will face off at the organization’s variety show on Monday (11 a. m. CT, ESPN2).
