A British father “HERO” who died while trying to save his two young daughters from a Portuguese beach named monetary representative Trevor Pelling.
The 45-year-old man was pulled out of the ocean through an afternoon of surfers.
The locals and a nurse who spent almost an hour on the beach trying to save Mr Pelling before declaring him dead.
The tragedy occurred on Thursday shortly after 2 p. m. on Calada beach in Encarnacao, about an hour’s drive northwest of Lisbon.
The British holidaymaker fasted to save his two daughters, aged 12 and 9, from being taken to the sea when they were struggling because of the strong current.
They were then taken to Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon for an examination.
A psychologist is helping bereavementing young people and their mother, who has been appointed.
The dead guy was first described as a Dubai-born citizen travelling on a British passport.
This morning he named in Portugal as a British monetary specialist named after Trevor Pelling, who vacationed with his circle of relatives and founded in the Middle East for pro reasons.
Pelling described himself on LinkedIn as an Abu Dhabi-based manager at deVere Acuma, which is part of one of the world’s leading independent monetary advisory organizations.
Rescue patrols on the beach where the tragedy occurred are not scheduled to begin until June 12, after the alarm went off, qualified Navy specialists were mobilized to protect the public as a component of the so-called “Seawatch” assignment.
Calada Beach, Praia da Calada in Portuguese, is a long sandy beach in the shape of a shell.
The popular place of surfers is surrounded by cliffs that protect it from the strong winds.
Portugal’s National Maritime Authority said on a final night: “A 45-year-old man died today on Calada beach, an unguarded beach in the Mafra district, while trying to help his two young daughters, aged 12 and nine, when they were hit in trouble in the water.
“The alert was won at 2. 40 p. m. through the assistance centre of the district’s operational command in Lisbon.
“Cascais maritime police officers and ‘SeaWatch’ mission officers were promptly dispatched to the scene in an Amarok vehicle.
Three ambulances of volunteer firefighters from Ericeira and two emergency medical and resuscitation cars from Torres Vedras were also mobilized.
“When they arrived at the scene, they learned that a guy had been pulled out of the water through two surfers and that a nurse who had started applying rescue techniques at the scene that were then chased through firefighters.
“Despite his attempts to resurrect him, it was not imaginable to oppose the stage and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
“The body of the dead man, who is a foreign national, was then transported through volunteer firefighters to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Torres Vedras.
“The two young men were taken by ambulance to the Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon, in a solid situation, accompanied by their mother.
“A maritime police psychologist is supporting the guy’s relatives and one of the surfers who pulled him out of the water.
A regime police investigation into the incident is reportedly under way.
Pualo Agostinho, chief of the Cascais maritime police whose competence covers the domain where yesterday’s tragedy occurred, said he could not verify the call of the dead man.
He added: “The total circle of relatives on the beach, the father, the mother and their two daughters. It is a beach that had no lifeguards since the lifeguard service does not start until June 12.
“Both women were struggling and their father tried to save them. He controlled to protect them, but he himself fought and, sadly, ended up dying after being pulled out of the water by two surfers.
“I don’t know if I didn’t know how to swim or I didn’t know how to swim well.
“The women were taken to The Santa Maria Hospital in Lisbon with their mother. As I perceive it, they are now out of the hospital. “
A source close to the case added: “The circle of relatives on holiday here I still don’t know if they stayed near the beach or further away.
“They had gone to the beach where the tragedy happened and the car left while the women went to the hospital. “
It was not without delay that it was clarified today whether the autopsy had already been carried out.
