The Meron Victims’ Families Forum has expressed fears about a demolition order issued at several structures in the Lab BaOmer crisis that could be adjusted before the commission of inquiry has a chance to review it, the Jerusalem Post reported.
In addition, it gave the impression that the repairs of the paintings had already begun, with published warnings of the impending demolition and the arrival of major equipment. The dismantling of bleaches in the Boyan segment was noted.
One of the demolition orders considers a 350-square-foot raised balcony opposite a trail on the site, the Post said.
The notices were issued through the Northern District Branch of the Land Law Enforcement Authority, signed through Northern District Director David Ohayon on June 17 and published on June 20, the day the commission of inquiry approved through the Government.
The Ministry of Finance, under whose auspices the Land Enforcement Authority operates, showed the demolition orders, however, said police approval is required before they can be executed, even though the paintings already appear to be underway.
A spokesman for the Meron Victims’ Families Forum said the families were heavily involved in the demolition orders being carried out before the state commission of inquiry had a chance to review the site.
The spokesman said the families feared the orders were designed to hide evidence of negligence and would simply turn to the High Court to prevent demolitions.
